Haitian-American single women have a very challenging time in finding suitable partners. If you ask them why, they will reply “Oh well, I couldn’t find the right guy” or “I don’t have time for a relationship” or “I’m focusing on my career” and so on. But are these the real reasons why more and more Haitian-American women are single? The numbers do not lie, here are 5 reasons why they are still single. Check this out! 1. Less men are available.
Haitian-American women are less likely to date outside of their community than Haitian-American men. There is not an equal number of Haitian-American men available. To make matter more complicated, many Haitian-American men date women from other ethnic groups and are less likely to stay in long-term relationship with Haitian-American women.
2. Family issues. Our single women have more chances to meet a guy who did not have a father. It is estimated that 72% of African-Americans are raised by a single mother (the numbers are not available for Haitian-Americans, so we assume they are similar). Boys who grew up without a father figure are more likely to repeat the cycle of not making commitment.
3. Missing daddy. Many Haitian-American women have grown up in a house without a father. Girls who grow up without a steady father figure are more likely to misinterpret the real feeling of love.
This thing makes them feel insecure and they are more likely to choose men who are insecure and not marriage material. 4. Household environment. Women who grew up in a single parent household and are surrounded by many single parents households tend to follow the same lifestyle. If you want to get married or stay married, hang out with married people (and find your own single man of course).
Often, marriage runs in families or communities. It is not uncommon to find families where everyone is married and other families where no one is married. 5. Long hours and low income. If you work too many hours, unless your job has a pool of eligible bachelors, you will have less chances of meeting someone.
When you are single, the key is to be available and spend your time where good men will most likely hang out. I’m an African American male and I just got out of a relationship with a young Haitian women. We were perfect together. We strongly believe in the Lord, we pray, practice celibacy and much more! We rarely argue and we always have a great time together and I know she’s the one but she doesn’t think so. She lives with her parents whom I never met before. I always wanted to meet them but she kept on saying that the timing isn’t right.
When I pick her up to take her out, she always wanted me to park in front of their neighbors house never in front of their house. I asked her why and she told me because she don’t want her parents to see her with me or they will be asking questions about who she is going out with. She told me that her parents are very strict and they are both from Haiti.
She is first generation here. things started to go downhill when she and her family came back from vacation in Haiti. I notice things about her started to become weird, for instance we would always text each other good morning and we will elaborate about how our day went. But when she came back from Haiti those things stopped. She did a whole 180 on me. When I will ask her how was her day she would reply “ok” instead of going into detail. as I stated earlier we both believe in the Lord.
Her and I had a small disagreement about baptism and about going to church. Her family has church at home. They don’t go to an actual church because of the things that they have witnessed in church . She told me that we don’t believe in the same things and I truly believe that we do.
She told me that I will find someone better than her and she feels as though she don’t deserve me. I know she does deserve me and I deserve her. When I was talking to her, she sounded as if she want to kill the relationship between us without trying to be together.
And I was wondering if it’s because of the heavy influence that her parents have on her that is killing our relationship. Am I not good enough to meet her parents? Am i not worthy to be in their presence? He family has a stong influence on her. She is 26 years old she still lives with her parents because she is in school. But to me I feel as though her parents are running her life and ruin it at the same time.
I need some advice from actual Haitian parents. I’m in love with her and I really want to be with her. Many Haitian parents are very conservative. This is not only because of religious belief but because of the culture. You cannot force love. Love is a 2 way street. Love is also complicated and not at all logical. Don’t force a relationship.
Your worth should not be based on what other people think. Good luck. Hope you find your match soon. I’m not trying to force her or anything but I always wanted to meet her parents. And she is insecure about herself. She couldn’t take a complement. If I said ” you look wonderful” she would reply ” you’re just saying that” she just didn’t believe me. When I went to pick her up, she always wanted me to park near her neighbors house. Which I don’t understand why. I really think her parents would like me.
I’m a well mannered young man, very educated, nice job, carry myself well, in school and much more. In my heart I think her parents have something to do with it.
