The oysters and cocktails were outstanding. I also had a burger which was hand made and the fries were delicious! We also really loved the brussel sprouts. Maddie, our waitress, was outstanding and kept our plates and glasses full! We hope to come back soon. Thank you for being a part of our fun holiday weekend in Richmond.
We felt welcome and cared for! " "I made a reservation a week ahead to celebrate my son’s birthday. We arrived exactly on time and were told the table was not ready but should be in 10 minutes. Naturally, they ushered us upstairs to the bar where we waited 30 minutes. They blamed the situation on diners staying later than expected. After it became apparent they had probably given our table up shortly before our reservation and arrival time, we were given seats upstairs in the bar. Christine, the bartender and food server, was great and handled the situation well.
The food was great. However, whoever is responsible for managing reservations and seating is either incompetent or irresoponsible. " "There was a snafu with Open Table which allowed me to make a reservation for a time that was supposed to be blocked off due to a private party. The restaurant was so accommodating and worked with us so we could still have dinner despite the scheduling error. The food was excellent as was the service. I recommend the cauliflower and meatball small plates and the carbonara for an entree.
The restaurant is small but does have outdoor seating as well as indoor seating and a bar. It was a great place for taking out-of-town family to dinner.
" "We love eating at Tarrants when go to the theater which is only a block and a half away. At Tarrants you can valet and they allow you to keep your car there until after the show. The food and our servers were excellent!
I had the rockfish which is one my favorites. I highly recommend this restaurant. " "I took my husband there for our anniversary. It was both of our first time. They didn't have the filet mignon or shrimp cocktail. They did offer us a ribeye steak for the same price as the filet but not as good as we are use to. Cocktails we expensive. Would probably go back in the spring or summer. Atmosphere was a little bright. " "My husband absolutely loved the grilled shrimp appetizer.
The food was very good, steaks were prepared to specified requests. The noise level got quite loud in the room as the evening progressed. By dessert, we were almost shouting across the table. For a quieter time , come early....or it may have just been a full dining room of loud people on our night. :-( Food is good, but pricey. " "Food was very good, well prepared, and nicely presented but a tad under seasoned.
I ordered lamb chops and I was surprised and delighted to get four, perfectly grilled chops from rack. The beet salad was tasty and nicely presented. My only complaint was the noise level. It was 11 on a 10 point scale. I think it reflected groups having a fun, holiday dinner with lots of wine.
I look forward to a return visit. " "With my budget, Hondos is a restaurant usually reserved for special occasions. I love their filets! However, I met some friends for lunch and they have a special lunch menu with featured meals under $10.
I was pleasantly surprised by the choices (mahi mahi blt, steak wrap, shrimp and grits) for under $10. Generous portions.
I will not be reserving Hondos for just for special occasions anymore! " "We went to Hanover Tavern for their brunch. The selections were quite adequate and the entree's we selected were well proportioned and tasted excellent.
Our server was very friendly and helpful, especially in helping us in making our selections. The tavern is also a historic location with exhibits and an audio tour if you so desire. Truly a nice place to visit. " "This was our second time at the Seafare of Williamsburg for dinner, and once again we were blown away.
We have enjoyed both steaks and seafood here. Everything that we've had has been exceptional so far. This is a very nice restaurant, expect to pay a little more here than you would at a chain restaurant...but it's worth it. " "Service is very efficient. We loved all the food--crab bisque, crab cakes for our entree, seasonal salad, spoon bread, sweet potato muffins were just awesome. The atmosphere is perfect. Entertainer would be heard better if he came room to room instead of staying in the foyer.
We love Christiana Campbell's and plan our trip days each time we come to Colonial Williamsburg on days that it is open. "
