There are some truly excellent teachers in Ann Arbor, and having "school of choice" in the district, along with some alternative schools like STEAM, alternative learning places, make it a wonderful place to go to school. The proximity to the University of Michigan further nurtures the concept of the importance of a good education. There is a large variety of courses offered, but of course it would be great to have more (Mandarin Chinese, for example).
Excellent experience! For the most part, my experience through AAPS has been very good. I have had amazing teachers who have sparked my curiosity, especially in science, however I have had several teacher who were just awful.
One teacher in particular, my middle school band teacher, was super bad and there is a movement to get him fired due to mistreatment of students. Administration, for the most part, has been OK. They do not really affect my day to day life. There is lots of opportunities at my high school to take higher level classes, which is good, but this puts a lot of pressure on students to load up their schedule and the stress level around me is very large.
There is too much emphasis put on football. The high school football teams are really bad and we have such great crew and water polo teams so it would seem like administration would encourage people to go watch the teams that are good but alas, homecoming is still way to hyped up.
