About Lodo (Lower Downtown) The historic 23-square block of Lower Downtown Denver (LoDo) boasts the largest concentration of Victorian and early 20th-century buildings in the United States. Anchored by Union Station and Coors Field, this is one of Denver's top nightlife and eating neighborhoods filled with hip restaurants, sports bars, rooftop cafes and brew pubs. See & Do Fans have been cheering on the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, the classic 50,000-seat ballpark, since the franchise began in 1995.

The 76-acre Major League stadium is located at 20th and Blake, steps away from the hub of sports bars, nightclubs, and restaurants in Denver’s Lower Downtown (LoDo)/Ballpark Neighborhood.

The other main attraction is just renovated neoclassical Union Station, a working railway station that also houses chic boutiques, restaurants and a hotel. Eat LoDo is packed with restaurants, many of which can be found on Larimer and Blake Streets, and around Larimer Square, which are worth browsing for the undecided.

Union Station also hosts some of LoDo's top eats. Here you'll find Mercantile Dining & Provision, which does wonderful gourmet global fare.

Right on Larimer Square, Rioja is another of Denver's best restaurants and does amazing Spanish and Mediterranean fare. Finally don't skip Coohill's for locally sourced French fare.

Party LoDo is a major nightlife area, and on weekends the clubs and bars are packed until closing. Choices are varied and include dance clubs, wine bars and brewery's like Wynkoop Brewing Company, which became Colorado’s first brewpub in 1988. Pouring award-winning small-batch beers and serving a menu featuring Colorado produced meats and vegetables, Wynkoop carved its place in the Denver brewpub market from the beginning.

Stay The elegant Crawford is the newest hotel on the LoDo scene and located inside Union Station. Another upmarket LoDo property is the historic Oxford Hotel, which has a beautiful old world lobby and richly appointed antique European styled guestrooms. The Four Seasons Hotel Denver is also in this neighborhood, and offers all the signature style that comes with that brand plus a great restaurant and fun summer pool parties. Shop LoDo is known for its independent speciality boutiques selling everything from jewelry to women's fashion to Denver's famed Tattered Cover Bookstore, which is well worth a browse.

Also in the neighborhood is the three generation business Rockmount Ranch Wear, which opened in 1946 and is one of the original Western shirt companies in the country. The Rockmount shirt has been worn by celebrities over the years from Elvis to Toby Keith.

Did a free two hour walking tour of the city which gave us a good insight into the city. We also did a tour of Molly Brown’s house in the afternoon which was fascinating, then walked back through the Uni campus so felt we saw a lot of the city in just one day. Loved the electric scooters in town and the young vibe of the place.

It’s nice and flat too so waking everywhere is easy. The historic streets downtown are lovely. Our best experience was finding the Museum of Western Art. It is a smallish collection in a Victorian house. We liked the collection so much that we have bought a book on the collection. Staying in LoDo was also a good choice as it was convenient for tours which started at the train station which we also used to get to and from the airport. The free Mall bus was also much appreciated and we would often take it to the end and then walk to wherever.

A great city we hope to return to. I like the balance of old and new, worth searching out the authentic older town area, the Rino district for craft breweries and the Santa Fe arts area. Central Denver clean but sad to see so many homeless people. Fantastically friendly people everywhere and it felt really safe. Wonderful Arts museum, theatre venues and cinemas. Didn’t Perdue retail outlet shopping but Lakewood has the reputation. Taxis very reasonable. Ate Italian at Barollos which is over priced, and a nice steak in Brazilian steakhouse..

pricey but pleasant Spent a couple of days in Denver before heading up to the mountains. I had altitude sickness so didn’t have the best of times in Denver however, it’s a great place to go to get an experience of the American lifestyle and it wasn’t too busy when we were there at the end of March. Everyone was really friendly and especially when they hear a British accent. The main shopping strip is smoke free so be prepared to get told off by security and asked to move along.

There’s also a couple of marijuana dispensaries as well that anyone can go into (ID permitting). Worth a visit. I loved the art museum and the exceptional selection of beer. The Molly Brown House blew me away with local history and Nallen’s Pub on Market St is so worth a visit.

It’s the oldest Irish Pub in Denver and it’s authenticity and atmosphere is so comfortable and fun. The Flatiron Flyer is also a great option for day trips to Boulder. This was our first trip to Denver and Colorado.

We absolutely loved it. The first thing we noticed was the cleanliness of the city and being surrounded by mountains. We visited Rocky Mountain National Park & it was breathtaking!! The 5280 bar/pub has the most incredible cheeseburgers we ever had....all items made from scratch!
