The wax needs be melted prior to application. The melted wax is applied to the skin and it is removed by a piece of cloth strip or by hand (if you use hard wax) or by a piece of cloth strip (if you use soft wax). As the hot wax dries on the skin, it clings to the hair, making it easy to pull it out in the opposite direction of growth with a sudden movement. Here's a great hot waxing tutorial video to walk you through how it works:- Cold Wax Cold Wax is mainly designed for home use.

The wax is already applied to the pulling strip as you buy it. You will only need to warm the strip up a little bit between your palms to make it stick better to the hair. The strip itself is applied to the skin with its pre-waxed side down, it's pressed down in the direction of hair growth and pulled from the opposite direction. The strips are therefore ready to use when you take them out of the box. Hot wax does a better job of removing hairs from the treatment area so is recommended when you're willing to spend the extra time for preparation in order to get the best results.

It's also the recommended method of waxing when you have coarser hair as cold waxing generally struggles to effectively remove these type of hairs. Hot waxing is also recommended for people who have sensitive skin as it's less harsh on the skin and thus leads to less irritation. When Cold Waxing is Better than Hot Wax Cold wax is the method to choose if you're in a rush and don't have time to do any preparation.

It's the common choice for people who are travelling or who don't have the time to do the necessary preparation work for hot waxing. While the results are generally worse than hot waxing, they are still decent enough for most people.

It's generally regarded as being less painfull and it's a far simpler and less messy process. This method of waxing is more suited for people who don't have extremely coarse hair to be removed.

The Hot Wax vs Cold Wax Debate Here's a great video about whether hot wax vs cold waxing:- Cold wax is effective on body parts where the hair is thinner and is a better choice given that the process is much faster and less messy. Cold waxing strips come in all shapes and sizes which is very useful for parts of the body, such as the facial region, whereby certain sized strips can be more helpful and easier than hot waxing.

Write to us below: I used the cold wax (wax strip) for my underarm.

The problem is the packaging only provided 2 pieces of the after wax oil which is not enough to remove all the gel on the surface of my underarm. this resulted to residue of black markings of the strip on my underam. I don’t know how to remove it. Can you help me? Coz its really annoying to see those black markings. It looks like i have a black underarm. Please attend to my concern immediately.

Since the dawn of hairy people, a great debate has divided families and has caused conflicts of epic proportions. What is this debate that I speak of? Why, waxing, of course! People have long debated about which method is the best: hard wax or soft wax? Well, I am here to put an end to this, once and for all. Let’s first start with the differences between soft and hard wax.

Soft wax is applied to the skin very thinly and a muslin strip is applied on top of the wax to remove the hair. After the hair is removed with the soft wax, the esthetician has to apply oil or some kind of wax remover over the waxed area, to prevent a sticky situation. This is not so with hard wax. Hard wax is first applied as a liquid.

It goes on the skin a lot thicker than the soft wax. It then hardens after it cools off and the wax is removed without the use of a muslin strip. All waxes, hard or soft, remove some of the top layers of dead skin cells off of the skin, as it is a form of mild exfoliation.

However, soft wax can remove a lot more skin than desired and this ends up bruising the skin or breaking it. The risk of burning is also higher with soft wax. Hard wax is kept at a temperature just a little higher than the normal body temperature, while the soft wax is not manageable at that temperature.

Soft wax also pulls on the hair and skin when being removed, while hard wax dries to the hairs and does not pull on the skin. This makes the waxing experience a lot less painful. I hope this post finally settles this divisive debate forever and rescues the many people who lives have been impacted by this ongoing debate. With these facts, families can now be reunited as one and use only hard wax. This is why we only use hard wax for all of our services, especially our Brazilian and bikini waxing.

Soft wax requires the use of a pellon or muslin strip to remove wax and hair.

Hard wax does not. After it hardens slightly, you just remove it by pulling off the wax itself. 2. Because you use the wax to pull up the hair without a strip, you apply hard wax more thickly to the skin than soft wax. For soft wax you want a nice thin application, for hard wax apply a much thicker layer, says Dveirin. 3. Use hard wax for smaller parts of the body, like the face, nose, ears, under the arms, or for the bikini area.

You should use soft wax on larger areas of the body like the back, legs and arms. “It’s much harder to use hard wax on these areas, since you have to sit and wait for it to harden before you remove it,” says Dveirin.

“You can be very efficient with hard wax, but you can’t apply it in huge sections.” 4. Hard wax is kept at a lower temperature for melting, while soft wax has to be completely heated to get the best consistency. “If you heat hard wax too much, it’s really runny,” says Dveirin.

“And if you heat soft wax too much, it gets too thick.” 5. Hard wax is forgiving directionally, while soft wax has to be applied in the direction of hair growth, and removed in the opposite direction. “Using hard wax is like frosting a cake,” says Dveirin. “Use a thick application, and go back and forth, not just in one direction, so you ensure that hairs get stuck in the wax.” 6. Hard wax can be reapplied over an area that has already been waxed to get the remaining hairs, while soft wax should not be reapplied over a just-waxed area.

“Hard wax doesn’t adhere to the skin at all. It shrink wraps around the hairs, the wax gets hard and you can take it off with no problem.

With soft wax, you could tear the skin or cause much more irritation because it remains,” says Dveirin. What brand of wax you use is up to you, and Dveirin recommends using trial and error to find what you like. “I’m always open to trying new waxes.” she says. “At all times in my room, I have two soft and two hard waxes. I use different waxes for different types of hair.
