Congratulations, you’ve discovered the amazing human that is my best friend. So you want to date her, huh? Well, I — the best friend — have some very important requirements in order for you to spend your time with her. Understand that I will not like you right away... until I deem whether or not you are good enough for the gift to this earth that my best friend is. 1. Must be able to binge hours upon hours of Law and Order SVU Seriously.
This girl can binge TV like nobody else, but "Law and Order" is always a favorite. Be ready to spend a weekend in watching TV, cuddling and eating junk food (Nerds and Lucky Charms are a must). It’s seriously the best. 2. Have goals that are larger than finding the remote She is driven for success, once she’s got her eye on something, she gets it. You should be right at her side ready to go where ever she’s going. But you should have goals of your own and be working equally as hard to achieve them.
Support each other in being successes. This is not a valid email, please try again. 3. Must love dogs, like really love dogs. All dogs Be prepared to stop and pet every dog you can. There is no dog that is not fair game for petting or will get her attention. So you need to love dogs, too, even better if you already own a dog. But there is no dog that she will not deem worthy of love.
4. Understand that we tell each other literally everything As best friends, there is nothing I don’t know about her and vice versa. I know all about your relationship and whatever else she's up to. I will always be on her team, and be her number one fan. So, if you think you can be less than amazing to her, I’ll know.
5. Be excellent at Disney Karaoke This is simple, know your Disney songs and be ready to sing them at the top of your lungs at anytime; in the car, cooking dinner and anywhere else. 6. Treat her like the queen she is You’ve welcomed one of the best people in the world into your life.
She deserves the world and to be treated like a queen. Don’t treat her any less, she’s happy with simple gifts, a box of nerds or some flowers. Just remember to value her every single day. 7. Be willing to watch romantic comedies Yup, you read that right. Get ready to watch some rom-coms, and actually they aren’t that horrible.
She enjoys them, you’ll enjoy watching them with her and you’ll get a few laughs. 8. Make her laugh, a lot Her laugh is awesome and super contagious. Make her laugh, it doesn't take a lot but its 100% worth it.
Make her laugh at least once a day. But most importantly: 9. Accept that you can’t change her Read that, and read it again. She is exactly how she is, and she’s not going to change for you. What you see is what you get with her, and to be totally honest, as someone who spends a lot of time with her; what you get is pretty dang incredible. Enjoy everything about her, the goofy quirks, her little habits and all the other parts of her.
To the girl who is blessed enough to have her momma this Christmas, please remember to soak every last bit of it in. Please remember to hug her so tight, that the way she smells is locked into your nose. Listen to all the stories you've heard a million times, like you've never heard a single one.
Help her, even if it seems completely silly to you, help her mix that cake. Laugh, oh please laugh. Laugh at all her corky ways, at the way she mispronounces words, try's to be hip and use new found lingo, or how she cusses when she forgot to get the rolls out of the oven but quickly asks the Lord for forgiveness.
Remember her laugh, etch it into your brain. Make her happy, if she wants to go riding around looking at Christmas lights down the same streets you've went for years, do it. Don't fuss, take her advice, agree to just disagree on things. It's not worth it. Most importantly, remind her over and over how much you love her. Because unlike you, I'm not able to see my mom on Christmas.
I'm not able to see her on birthdays, Thanksgiving, or any other occasion. My time with her is up. Death is the most permanent heartbreak. How I long to hear her voice, her laugh. To feel her tight embrace. Smell, oh god, what I would give to just be able to smell her. I would absolutely love to go riding around for hours while she ohhs and ahhs at every single house we pass.
If I had the opportunity I'd tell her just how much I love her, how I'm so thankful for all the sacrifices she made for me. In fact, I'm not sure I could ever tell her enough. Some days I wake up and it still doesn't feel real. Others, I panic trying to remember exactly how she sounded. Because, I don't want to forget. I don't want to forget a single characteristic about her. Not one. Take time, not just on holidays, or special occasions to be with your mom.
Even if it's just you two piled up watching reruns of "The Little House on the Prairie", soak it in. You only get one momma. Nobody could ever take her place. She's your rock. 1. A new city. The same old problem. . . A man who won't take "no" for an answer! Emily Best went to work for her stepfather, and now she's on a mission to prove she's the right woman for the job. There's no time for romance in her life. Not now, and especially not with a player like Spencer. Spencer Marshall has the reputation of a player, even though he's yet to kiss a girl. But his pride won't let him admit the truth, even when his "reputation" stands between him and the girl of his dreams.
Emily Best. When unexpected attention comes calling, the resulting love triangle could kill any chances of Spencer winning Emily's love. Get a copy • • • The Best Girls are back, and they're funnier and feistier and more charming than ever.
Anne Best is now married to Steven Gherring and her daughter Emily is interning in their company as an accountant. Things are looking up for Anne, but Emily isn't sharing the fun. Spencer The Best Girls are back, and they're funnier and feistier and more charming than ever. Anne Best is now married to Steven Gherring and her daughter Emily is interning in their company as an accountant. Things are looking up for Anne, but Emily isn't sharing the fun. Spencer Marshall, the guy she met on a rock-climbing gym when she visited her mom for the first time in New York, is back and is also working in Gherring Inc.
Just when she decided to live an uncomplicated boring single life, here comes Steven, the unpredictable, daring and heart-stoppingly handsome man who makes her lose control. Steven is known to be player, always seen with a lot of girls around him. Little did they know that he actually hasn't dated anyone or any girl for that matter. He's got lots of girl friends in the hiking club, but he never ever has kissed one, because he's waiting for that one special girl to share it with.
In Best Dating Rules, we meet a lot of new characters and fun personalities. There's Becca, an untrustworthy shameless girl who's got the hots for Spencer; there's also Spencer's four charming and quite boisterous sisters Grace, Claire, Hannah & Olivia; and Brad & Josh, two doctors who have somehow found their way to the Best family.
I love all of them, (except for Becca) and I had a great time reading their banters, hoots and loud & crazy convos. Oh, there are also two little additions to the Best-Gherring family and they're probably going to be my most favorites yet. Tamie Dearen hits another jackpot with her Best Girls series. She really does know how to make the reader feel happy, tickled in love and satisfied. I always enjoy reading her stories, especially the simple but witty dialogues.
So far, this one really made me smile: "Why do women make everything so complicated? It's our punishment as men. We have to suffer because Adam took that apple from Eve. I hate that guy. " I look forward to reading Charlie's lovelife next. Woohoo! • • The Book Emily Best moves to New York. She has no desire for romance until Spencer Marshall, then fights feelings she has for him.

Spencer wants to win her heart, but Emily isn’t easily won. My Thoughts This is the second book in The Best Girl’s Book. I love the characters, each one with a likeable personality. Emily-strong willed and determined. Charlie-stronger willed and ornery. Spencer-misunderstood and sensitive. Josh-arrogant and adventurous. Put Emily and Spencer; Charlie and Josh together and a fiery story unfolds.
Add, Anne (Best) and Stephen Gherring and an unexpected surprise and you get a Best seller. (Sorry for the pun, but the book inspires wit.) I enjoyed the clean, pure love that radiated from the pages.
Funny and feisty came to mind as I turned the pages. I’m hooked and look forward to the next read in the romantic comedy series. You’ll want to be friends with these characters.

This is a sweet love story with strong family values. Emily and Spencer are truly likable characters.
I especially enjoyed the banter between Spencer and Josh and have hopes it will continue in the rest of the series. The focus is on the budding romance between the main characters with enough suspense to keep you turning the pages. You really can't help but smile when you read this book. If you're ready to escape with some light, fun reading this is for you!
The author did a great job developing the characters and pulling in supporting characters that moved the plot forward and added depth. The ending totally sets up the next book but still leaves the reader with a satisfying conclusion. A well written and enjoyable read! • • I received the book by the author for an honest review (Thank you Tamie!). I loved reading Best Dating Rules so much so that I re I received the book by the author for an honest review (Thank you Tamie!). This review is based on the ARC copy and some changes may have been made by the editor or author so the review may differ from the published copy. I loved reading Best Dating Rules so much so that I read it late into the night because I couldn't put it down! There was so much improvement from book 1 in writing syle, story and the characters and I enjoyed seeing all the characters again.
Here's what I thought about the book. 1. I think I liked Steven more in this book with him being so overprotected and sweet. 2. Emily was easily to like with her witty, independent yet vulnerable personality.
3. Spences was so awesome and I loved how he wouldn't give up on Emily. For some reason I pictured him as a cute little puppy:-D 4. I liked the little side romance between Charlie and Josh. 5. As in the last book, the relashionship between Anne, Emily and Charlie (and now Steven) was so wonderful that I wissh all mothers and daughters were so close. 5. I absolutely hated Becca and her cunning and desperate ways. I wanted to reach into the book and strangle her! However... The book dragged a bit in the end and I just wanted to see the happy ending instead of seeing both Emily and Spencer moping over their assumptions.
Also, the art teacher really put me on edge and I didn't really find him charming. The small problems in the book may have been edited so I will eliminate those from my reviews. Besides that, I absolutely adored the book and would recommend it to anyone who likes sweet romances. • • Light, breezy, and loads of fun After finishing a somber piece about supernatural creatures trying to kill the hero of the novel, I chose this book to brighten my day. What a good choice! The Best girls are delightful and the guys who fall in love with them...well move over Tom Cruise! That's not to say that everything runs smoothly for these characters, heartache, misunderstanding, and near death situations add tense moments to the tale.
Their mother is also dealing with a medical situation that worries the whole family until the end of the book (I don't want to give away the plot). Emily and Charlie (sisters) are girls who are attempting to navigate the treacherous world of dating by using a list of firm rules to keep them out of trouble--the Best Dating Rules--but in modern times these old fashioned rules are very hard to enforce.
Will the men in the lives get frustrated and walk away? Can the girls learn to trust again after they've been hurt? These are questions every modern young woman must face. Waiting to learn the answers keeps this story interesting, but don’t get me started on the evil girl who tries to snatch Spencer away from Emily! This book is a really "clean" read, one that any mother could recommend to her daughter.
In fact it might give that daughter insight into dating that she doesn't get from TV and movies now days. The Best girls are a breath of fresh air, refusing to fall into bed with every young man who strikes their fancy. If you're looking for a "clean" romantic comedy, I recommend this one without reserve. • • I have to agree with another review I read, the story was dragged out a bit at the end, but I didn't knock off any stars for I found this to be a completely delightful read!

So many characters points of view in this book! I love it when that happens! I hope that continues in the next one. I am so dying for Josh's story, and hope he gets a happy ending! He kind of wormed his way into my heart- even when I was determined not to like him!
Spencer, on the other hand, love at first sentence! And his sisters were delightful as well. I am really hoping this author writes their own stories! Emily drove me crazy, but still didn't stop me from liking her as I can drive my own self crazy, and I completely relate to stubborn and spunky! I could easily be a Best girl! ;) • • Best Dating Rules by Tamie Dearen is book two of the Best Girls romantic comedy series.

Although we find out more about Anne and Steven in this book, the focus is on Emily and Spencer's romance. Or comedy of errors, as the case may be.
Emily and Spencer have some MASSIVE communication problems, and its somewhat blind obstinance on both sides. Yet, somehow, they keep getting drawn back to each other. We meet the Marshal girls, Spencer's four rambunctious sisters. And through it all, we gain a respect for what Emily and Spencer will do for the other, as well as what their limits are. The book stayed light and humorous, even when I was ready to bash some heads at the stupidity of the lovebirds.
Anne has some big news too, and it causes Steven to go all protective on her. But in the end, everything works out for the best. So, our friends from book one aren't completely absent. • • This book is wonderful!

She keeps all the characters' lives in motion, which makes for a fun, twisted, complicated plot. She writes a girl you love to hate, and if its possible, you fall in love a little bit with each male leads. I have no complaints about this one! Get it! Read it! NOW! • • Laugh Out Loud Love Story!

Easy on the cologne. Avoid novelty ties. Arm yourself with . 2. The Pickup Be on time. Do not be drunk. Go to the door. Do not bring flowers—it's outdated. You may, however, bring a small, thoughtful gift that you did not purchase from Wicks 'n' Sticks or B.

The Drive If you're taking a cab, you should open the door for her, give the directions, and pay. While amusing, avoid that bit where you go and then stop and pretend to drive away without her.
No music—try talking. If you find the ensuing silence unbearable, you may put on music, but avoid the following: a) talk radio; b) anything in which R. Kelly describes something overtly sexual; c) playlists consisting entirely of songs that feature her name. 4. The Restaurant Open the door for her. In case of revolving doors, you go first. Wait until she's seated to take your seat. At fancier joints, it's the waiter's job to help her with her chair, not yours.
Never order for her. And never to the waiter while saying, "And the lady will have something of equal or lesser value." Sharing food: If she suggests it, you're doing it.
Pay. If she offers to help, say something sincere like, "It's my pleasure," not something you think is witty, like, "I'll consider this a down payment for later, if you know what I mean!" Getty Images 5.
The Bar Open a tab. Never drink more than she does. Never drink less than she does. 6. The Walk Walk at her pace. Tradition dictates that you should walk on the outside of her to avoid puddle splashes and runaway carriages, but feel free to disregard this unless your date takes place in Colonial Williamsburg (not advised).
Offer her your arm. It's chivalrous and also a good way to initiate contact. Be a man. Make your move. May God be with you. You're not going inside. Unless she suggests it.
Getty Images 7. Following Up No texting. Call the next day. Two days, tops. If she answers the phone, thank her for a great night and schedule a second date. If you get voice mail, thank her and ask her to call you back. If she answers the phone "Sam's Pizza" and pretends you've got the wrong number, all bets are off.
Love songs for him.
