The city’s selection of theaters includes everything from the luxury movie going experience to an art house theater that shows independent, local, and foreign films.
The list below consists of some of the city’s best theaters that are certain to entice movie lovers out of the living room and back to the cinema. Recently voted the best movie theater in St. Louis, the Tivoli Theater has been a beloved art house cinema in the St. Louis area for the past 90 years. Located in the Delmar Loop, the Lankmark Theater is known for featuring the best in both independent and foreign films.
The Tivoli, along with St. Louis’ other Landmark Theater located in the Plaza Frontac, screens classic films on special occasions and will acknowledge Halloween by screening "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" during the month of October. The theater also holds the St.
Louis Filmmakers Showcase, an event that screens the works of local artists and films that have strong ties to the area. Ticket prices start at $7 - $9 on both weekday and weekends. Located in the South County area, Ronnies has been a favorite of St. Louis residents for many years. Known for its IMAX screens and drive-in themed seating area around the concession stand, the theater also features a family entertainment area with a flight simulator and virtual roller coaster.
The theater is operated by Wehrenberg Theaters with tickets prices ranging from $6.50 - $10.75 for regular screens and $13.25 - $15.50 for IMAX screens. Known for its Five Star Lounge and Megaplex screen, the Chesterfield Galaxy has become a favorite for movie lovers. The theater’s Mega Screen is over 50’ high and 70’ wide, making the largest screen in the Midwest and one of the largest in the country.
The over-21 lounge area offers five-star dining and seating, complete with heated recliners and an entrée menu, making it the closest thing to an evening in that the area has to offer. Operated by Wehrenberg Theaters, the Chesterfield Galaxy is also known for its low ticket prices.
The price of admission of regular screens is $7.50 with added charges for 3D and $12-16 for the five-star lounge experience.
