I stayed one night here for a business trip. I left my car with valet and was told they needed 45 minutes advance notice to retrieve it. I had an important appointment to get to the next day so I needed my car to be there as I arrived back from my meeting. I tried for 90 minutes to call the hotel to get my car but phones were not working.

In Manhattan??? Really??? I then tried twitter, no reply. Staff acted as if this was totally normal when I finally made it back in person. I pre checked and said that I would be there before 3:00 pm. When I got there at 3:20pm my rooms where Not ready. They gave us 1 room at 4:00 pm. We (4 people) had to get ready there for our appointment at 5:00 all in one room.

The second room was ready at 4:30 pm. When we got the room we notice that it wasn’t really clean, no water bottles and the sheets didn’t smell good. We didn’t complaint because of our rush. After that it was ok. Sofitel NYC was perfect as always. I stay here once or twice a year to see broadway shows, museums, shop and friends. Check-in is always professional and the staff go out of their way to ensure your room meets your needs; superior size room, suite, king versus queen bed, balcony, need a view, they will walk you through the room you probably will want.

My advice - plan ahead to get that room! If an upgrade is available they will send you an e-mail the week of your stay to see if you want to upgrade. Nows your chance! My only complaint thru the years was last December my bed was uncomfortable.

Mattress coils were poking through. Not major but enough to notice and disrupt sleep. This year the bedding issues were resolved. Now once again you don’t want to leave your bed because it is so warm and comfortable. I have stayed here many times and always, always, perfection.

If you are visiting Broadway this is the best hotel. Trust me. The staff is the best and very accommodating. Hotel is quiet and the bathroom has a great soaking tub and separate shower.

These are important after long days of much walking. I have seen the promotions with special fragrances for the room. I did not see them nor the infamous macaroons in the turn down service... Actually they only provide me water, which is practical as I consume a lot with all the walking. Maybe the others mentioned are reserved for penthouse guests.

Just don’t take away my orchid... Lol...This week’s orchid was exceptionably beautiful. Who needs fragrance when you have orchids? Restaurant - room service was quick and delicious. Great selections to choose from. Gaby Restaurant is always worth a visit. House Cabernet is wonderful. Their Tuna nicoise is my go to dinner item. It changes according to the chef. Always a winner except when your waitress thinks you said chicken instead of tuna.

The CHICKEN PAILLARD is ok and a healthy choice but not satisfying when you are expecting TUNA & QUINOA NIÇOISE. It became a running joke after that with the amused waiter the following night. Some of the waiters & bartender have been there for years which tells you the Sofitel is doing something right! Looking forward to returning in the spring!

This hotel is a stay-cation when we don't have time to really get out of town and we want some romantic time. It's a great treat because the restaurant serves exceptional food and the staff is terrific. My advice is not to go for the uppermost floors because they're small and the design is inferior to the lower ones. Check out the gym and if you need glasses, there's a superb alternative to expensive mediocrity of LensCrafters.
