Yes. There are many independent sites that post their own MBTI tests for free. Most of these tests aren’t usually as accurate as an “official” MBTI test, but you can certainly make do with a few of the free versions.
Here is my personal favorite: This site also has a forum for people of various personality types to socialize. Be aware though, not all of the community is welcoming. You do not have to join the forums nor create an account to take the test.
Just click (or press) “Take the test”, be honest and enjoy. Also, it would be wise to take tests from many sites and see if they place you differently. Remember, these tests are not almighty and can be wrong.
Value your own personal judgement over the tests’. There are a number of free online tests. I have also taken the official MBTI assessment for free through my university's career counseling center. In my opinion, the best way to identify and truly understand your Myers-Briggs type is through careful study of the cognitive functions based on Jungian psychology, which are what the 16 types are based on.
It's time-consuming, complex, and requires a lot of introspection, but I think it's really rewarding. It also is less of a personality test and more of a tool for understanding how you process information and emotions, your brain's "default settings," if you will. I recommend the Personality Junkie website as a starting point for good, thorough (without being too dense) breakdowns and side-by-side comparisons of each of the types.
Yes there are! There are a number of good resources to choose from, but remember not all results are valid, and some people take a while to find their “true type”, (personally I think people change into the type in which they want to be, but that’s just my $0.02).
Truity, which has test for MBTI and the Big Five (if you’re interested): Human Metrics, a test that was considered better by my group of friends: And finally, 16personalities - which was the first test I took myself:
Ever taken The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Test? It is really helpful in getting a better understanding of who you are and the way you see the world. What Is Myers Briggs? Filed Under: , Tagged With: , , , Reader Interactions I am an INTJ the mastermind, not a surprise because until just recently I have worked as an Electrical Engineer. This is a very left brained career field and probably why so many techies have trouble dating women. You have to think in facts, using logic, women seem to like to relate to past experiences and connect through emotions which is the way at the opposite end from the way an engineer communicates.
Of course this is a generality one of the best engineering students I have ever known was a woman and she got her Phd in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech and has my highest respect and was one of the best female friends I have ever had, wish she hadn’t been married would have been my best shot at getting married young. • Marni Wing Girl says Hey Steve I think you’re right that so many guys in ‘left side of the brain’ industries have a little more trouble communicating with women.
(Though yes women can make amazing engineers too!) I think you sound like a great guy, so don’t feel bad about not getting married young. Focus on all that you have in your life, keep working on communicating better with women, and I’m sure you’ll find a woman that’s great for you Marni 🙂 • Aidil says I guess I am the proverbial guy who has no personality. When I got to the end of the ten questions and clicked the button to get the result, I got a page that said “Result” at the top, something about tests others are taking down the right side, and nothing else.
I’m pretty skeptical of this sort of quick analysis, so maybe the web page could tell that and refused to give me a result. 😉 • Arash Shahangian says I’m an INFP, the Healer, and my preferred woman would be an ENFJ, the Teacher. It makes sense. I’d just never thought about it before in Myers-Briggs terms. From the comments below, and my own experience, it shows the strong tendency of Introverts and Extroverts to seek each other (similar to, but less consistently with the Judging/Perceiving scale) , while those on the iNtuitive/Sensory scale tend to prefer their own type (which also seems to apply with Thinking/Feeling scale).
Nice, succinct test. I’m surprised 10 questions would be enough. Primary Sidebar
