I have towed my toyhauler (6500#) several times and have just over 5000 miles ... Just seeing what others are getting while towing with their 2015? I have towed my toyhauler (6500#) several times and have just over 5000 miles on the truck and at best have got 7 mpg.

Took my truck back to the dealer, as I have only had the truck a little over 2 months, and there was an update already. Most towing at interstate speeds 70-75. Truck is stock except a 4" MBRP cat back.

Truck is stock except a 4" MBRP cat back.Might want to check the speed rating on your ST tires anyway. Almost all of them are rated at 65MPH. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk Speed, headwind, all play a factor on these trucks more so then any other truck I've owned.

I've owned many trucks in my years but this one hands down gets the worst fuel economy when you strap a trailer to it, even an empty one. Heck I can put my empty landscape trailer behind my wifes RAV4 and it gets better fuel economy then my F-150. I am running the 91 octane performance/tow tune and it has zero effect when towing. Normal driving I've improved some. I get over 20 mpg not towing and get between 9-10 mpg towing a #5000 TT.. I've got over 23,000 miles on it now and while the non towing mpg's have gotten better with age, the towing mileage has been the same since the first tow..

Nature of the beast I'm afraid.. To get 365hp/420tq out of a little 3.5L V6, you gotta be putting some fuel to the thing.. Those dual turbos probably aren't helping either!

But, you gotta love the power it gives! I tow my little #5000 TT around like it's not even there compared to the old 97 F150 with the 5.4 towing the same TT.. Anyway, I can tell you that if I towed at 70-75 mph, I'd only be getting 7 mpg's too...

When I drive that fast not towing, I'll get a lot less than the 20 mpg's I get going 65 mph. So, you gotta decide if you want to pay to go 75 mph or save a bit and go 65 mph..

Good luck! Mitch I just towed a similar travel trailer about 250 miles with elevation decreasing from about 1100 ft to sea level and got 10.2 mpg measured. Today, I made the return trip and the computer said 9.0 mpg. Will update when I fill up tomorrow with the actual value.

I have a 3.31 gearing instead of the 3.55. 2013 F-150 Lariat, Ruby Red Metallic, Equipment Pkg 502A, 3.31 Ratio, 3.5L Eco Boost, Lariat Chrome Package, 20 inch wheels, WeatherTech DigitalFit Liners, WeatherTech TechLiner Bed Liner with Tailgate, Leer 100XR Truck Cap, Front License Plate Bracket, Engine Block Heater Installed, WeatherTech Side Window Deflectors, WeatherTech MudFlaps, Westin Sportsman Grille Guard, Ford Part No: DL3Z-17696-CA Telescoping Trailer Tow Mirrors

Automotive & Light Truck 6 banners present 6 advantages utilizing AMSOIL automotive & light truck products. Why AMSOIL? | The introduction of the world’s first synthetic motor oil to meet American Petroleum Institute service requirements in 1972 set all-new standards for motor oil quality.

AMSOIL synthetic motor oil outperformed conventional petroleum motor oils on all counts. It was clear from the start that this innovative product would play a major role in engine performance and engine life. AMSOIL has remained steadfast in its commitment to quality and precision lubricant engineering, leading the charge over the past four decades with many industry firsts.

This quality-first commitment has driven the introduction of numerous synthetic lubricants, premium filtration technologies and fuel additives that provide tangible, real-world value . Why Synthetics? • Better wear protection • Excellent fuel economy • Outstanding extreme-temperature performance Conventional lubricants are refined from crude oil.

Contaminating elements such as sulfur, nitrogen, oxygen and metal components such as nickel or vanadium are inherent to crude oil and cannot be completely removed through the refining process. The oil refining process separates the various types of molecules in the oil by weight, leaving molecules similar in weight but dissimilar in structure. Artificial lubes, on the other hand, are chemically engineered to develop pure lubes.

Synthetic lubricating substances include no contaminants or molecules that don’t serve a created function. They are made from particles that are saturated with a greater percentage of carbon- hydrogen bonds, leaving less sites to which various other, harmful molecules could attach and invade the molecular composition of the oil. Furthermore, their smooth, uniform oiling particles slip quickly around each other. Basically, synthetics’ versatility and pure, consistent molecular structure impart residential properties that offer better friction-reduction, optimal gas efficiency, maximum film strength and extreme-temperature performance traditional lubricating substances just can not compete.

Why AMSOIL? • World’s first API-qualified synthetic motor oil • Leader in synthetic lubricant technology • The only 25,000-mile oil The intro of the globe’s initial synthetic motor oil to fulfill American Petroleum Institute solution demands in 1972 set brand new requirements for electric motor oil quality. AMSOIL synthetic motor oil surpassed traditional petrol electric motor oils on all matters.

It was certain from the beginning that this innovative item would play a significant task in engine performance and engine life. AMSOIL has actually remained staunch in its dedication to high quality and precision lubricating substance design, leading the cost over the past four years with lots of sector firsts.

This quality-first dedication has driven the intro of various synthetic lubricating substances, costs filtration modern technologies and fuel additives that supply tangible, real-world value. Today, virtually every other motor oil manufacturer has recognized the superiority of synthetic lubricants and has followed the AMSOIL lead with introductions of synthetic motor oils of their own. They spend millions of dollars advertising their “new” and “revolutionary” products.

No one, however, can match AMSOIL experience. Accept no substitutes – AMSOIL is “The First in Synthetics®”. Why Now? • Automakers are moving up to synthetics • Helps vehicles last longer • Saves time & money Modern engine innovation is putting a lot more stress on electric motor oils.

Car makers are under remarkable burden to provide fuel-efficient motor vehicles that produce less emissions than their ancestors. They employ a selection of procedures to improve performance and lower exhausts, and nearly all of them negatively influence electric motor oil. Engines are smaller sized, yet produce additional power. They typically depend on turbos or special fuel injection systems that can boost the quantity of pollutants introduced into the oil.

Synthetic lubricants emulate these extra stresses better compared to conventional lubricants. AMSOIL artificial lubricants provide the sturdy film durability, severe- temperature security and maximum gas performance automakers are searching for. AMSOIL synthetic lubricants help vehicles last longer.

AMSOIL synthetic motor oils help engines run at peak efficiency. Their pure, uniform molecular structure results in maximum friction reduction and outstanding wear protection. Lubricated components move more freely and remain closer to like-new condition, longer. AMSOIL synthetic lubricants save time and money. AMSOIL synthetic lubricants deliver outstanding protection and extended service life. Fewer oil changes to perform, less oil to buy and reduced overall maintenance costs.

Using AMSOIL synthetic lubricants can help the environment. Think about the savings on the atmosphere if, as an example, the 243 million automobiles (excluding vehicles, buses and taxis) in the United States were equipped with AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil. If each auto has an oil capacity of 5 quarts, accumulates 15,000 miles yearly and has the oil drained every 5,000 miles, practicing prolonged drain intervals with AMSOIL Signature Series would certainly decrease the amount of oil utilized in the U.S.

annually by over 2.4 billion quarts. Furthermore, yearly thousands of gallons of electric motor oil are burned and exit through the tailpipes of vehicles, producing emissions & air pollution. Petrolium oils volatilize (clear) more readily than AMSOIL synthetic oils and produce even more emissions pollution. The thicker oil left after volatilization contributes to harmful deposits, sticky piston rings and oil blow-by, every one of which cause reduced engine life, reduced fuel economy, decreased power and increase air contamination.

Chevy Colorado Has Impressive MPG Performance For the longest time, shopping for a truck simply meant looking for a vehicle that could last a long time, tow a considerable amount and offer durability in all sorts of conditions. When the price of gas started to skyrocket though, engineers from all of the leading auto manufacturers decided to look towards improving the fuel economy as well (with a bit of assistance from new fuel regulations put out by the government).

I recently went looking for a new truck, and while I did want a truck with an extended cab and suitable towing, really proved to be one of the deciding factors. After all, with the amount I actually drive my truck, I want to save money whenever possible. For anyone else in a similar situation, this is a list of the top 10 trucks based on fuel economy.

10. 2015 Toyota Tundra The American auto industry has long dominated the truck landscape, as Americans buy more trucks than any other vehicle type in the country.

Due to this though, foreign automakers have started to increase the kind of trucks they offer, and Toyota has started to do the same. The 2015 Toyota Tundra is able to obtain a serviceable 16 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway.

It does have some nice performance under the hood though, including a 4.0L V-6 that can put out 270 horsepower using the five speed automatic transmission. 9. 2014 Honda Ridgeline With an entry from Honda into the listing of top 10 best gas mileage trucks, this option is able to gather 15 miles per gallon in the city, which is actually one less than the Toyota Tundra, but it reaches 21 miles per gallon on the highway. If it really came down between this truck or the Tundra based on gas mileage, it would really just depend what kind of driving is done the most.

Regarding the engine though, it does feature a smaller 3.5L V-6 that putts out 250 horsepower using a five speed automatic transmission. 8. 2015 Nissan Frontier Most truck owners are not just purchasing a truck to have a truck, but they want it to perform well in poor conditions tow a boat to the lake and to hall gear to a worksite.

Due to this, it really doesn't matter what other drivers buy, it just needs to feel right to the individual spending the money.

This truck gives 19 MPG in the city and 23 on the highway while featuring a smaller 2.5L I-4 engine that produces 152 horsepower.

7. 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 While seventh on the list, this truck actually has a larger engine than the other three trucks above it. The EcoTec3 4.3L V-6 produces 285 horsepower in a six speed automatic, yet it still provides 18 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway.

This actually averages out at the same as the Nissan Frontier, only with 133 more horsepower, so this receives the higher nod. 6. 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 The are basically the same truck an come with the same engine.

So, for anyone looking for a new truck, it is worth looking at both of these to see which minor alterations stand out the most. 5. 2015 Toyota Tacoma offering with a 2.7L I-4 (159 horsepower) engine with a five speed manual transmission that can put out 21 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway.

If fuel economy is the most important buying feature, I'd say look at this one. 4. 2015 Ram 1500 The truck has a lower 17 MPG in the city and the same 25 MPG as the Tacoma, but this one is rated higher due to the better engine. It has a 3.6L V-6 that produces 305 horsepower with an eight-speed automatic. In order words, it has the same MPG as the Tacoma but with almost 150 more horsepower.

3. 2015 Ford F-150 This is the most popular vehicle in the United States and a solid purchase for any truck owner.

It offers 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 on the highway, all with a solid 2.7L V-6 325 horsepower engine. You can't go wrong with those numbers in a truck. 2. 2015 GMC Canyon The first American truck on the list with an I-4, this truck produces 200 horsepower with a six-speed automatic transmission. It does produce 20 MPG in the city and 27 on the highway though. 1. 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Again, is basically the Chevy version of the Canyon with the exact same engine and the exact same fuel economy, it just has a few minor differences in internal features.
