Paul Wood, Jr./NorthJersey.com Craft beer has exploded in New Jersey. Long gone are the days when you could get only a few standard beers on draft—now, there are plenty of bars in the area that serve locally-brewed, innovative beers with unique flavors. Many of them serve awesome food, too. To get your craft beer fix, check out these great beer bars in Northern New Jersey. 1. Hops, Morristown This hidden gem found in the back of the Famished Frog has more than 20 brews on tap and a rotating selection of bottled craft beers.

The bar's most popular drink at the moment is the Kane Head High IPA from Oceanport and the Bolero Snort OVB from Ridgefield Park, according to bar manager Kevin Anton. “All the NJ brews are killing it right now,” Anton says. To choose which brews they serve, Anton says the bar managers consistently taste samples from different breweries and take suggestions from their customers.

He explains that sometimes a regular will visit a brewery and ask the bar to serve that particular beer — Hops does its best to accommodate. Check out Tap Takeovers on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, events that include new brews and live music. Every four months, Hops hosts Tap Tapovers exclusively with New Jersey brewed beer. Go: 18 Washington St.; 973-540-9601, . 2. Beef Trust Kitchen & Bar, Pompton Lakes Formerly known as Amazing Grapes, Beef Trust is not only home to 23 beers on tap, 22 growlers, 180 bottles, and 63 cans, it also has a large selection of organic wine and an abundance of ciders.

They also offer brews from Brix City Brewing in Little Ferry and Dogfish Head from Delaware. Inside, Twisted Elm has an old-world tavern feel with rustic wood décor and antique beams in the low ceilings.

Hello guys just moved to Plainsboro and i don't know many people here where is the best bars for singles to hangout? or if there is a hangout place.

I'm a single mother of 2 40 years old so I'm not looking for bars where kids hangout haha email me your name & number if you live near Plainsboro or know any good places i can go check out tonight.

Thanks Melissa Plainsboro is cool but when you say NORTH Jersey, even before I saw Plainsboro, im thinking that is a LOT of territory about 10 counties. From up around Sussex and BigBugs (Bergen) let's say down to the Raritan River,,, North NJ to me primarily is the mountainous counties,,, and stretches down,,, Plainsboro is the Delaware valley part of central / west central NJ... Morristown is definitely the best area for bars. There is a ton of bars in Morristown and Morristown is made so you can just walk from place to place rather than driving.

Please be careful on holidays and special days, because it is a big bar hangout spot and you never know if there are drunk people fighting.

The sidewalks of Morristown get supercrowded on holidays and special days like St. Patrick's Day and New Years, because people form long lines to get inside bars and they have security guards, so be aware of drunk people around you.

Morristown is vibrant for dining and going to bars.
