The perfect summer beach read as the author kept me turning pages. Take a walk down Wisteria Lane. He quickly befriends three boys from the baseball team who have troubling home conditions and has a plan for them. The book is divided into two parts, Step one where Chris bonds with the community and Step two where his reasons and master plan is explained. I am a huge fan of Lisa Scottoline.
Her husband is a surgeon and they have all the things that money can buy, a beautiful home, cars, clubs, etc. Suffice it to say, this just might be my all time favorite Lisa Scottoline book, but to be fair I haven't read many of her books. I am writing this review a month after reading this, anyone that knows me will understand that this is just not good! I would recommend to lovers of: Lisa Scottoline, Stephen King, Lisa Jackson…, mystery and fiction lovers as well thriller and suspense lovers. I apologize if my review is a bit vague. As soon as the first part ended so did the story for me.
I really started to care about the families, especially the boys on the baseball team. We soon get introduced to three young men that catch his eye and their families. Don't tell them the most personal things. Mindy would never have guessed there were enough spoiled brats to support a law practice, but maybe affluenza was contagious. While the novels in the series are serious for the most part, there is a slight bit of humour that makes it endearing and realistic. Then we have Mindy Kostis. They intruded upon their land - their lives.
However, some may be deadlier than others. I really don't understand the high ratings, but - and it's a big but - this is a well-known, best-selling writer, with, most likely a huge fan base. A handsome stranger moves to the small Pennsylvania town of Central Valley, and his name is Chris Brennan. Action-packed family drama, a thriller complex ride with lots of twists, turns, secrets, cover-ups, and suspense. As part of his undercover, he would be the new assistant coach in Operation Varsity Letter. Only eight pages into this book and I so badly want to know what this Chris Brennan is all about.
But then there as that damn ending. I continued reading even though the subject matter was no longer a story line I liked, because I was a bit curious to see how the mystery would end. However, we are also given parts of the story from Heather Larkin Jordan's mother , Mindy Kostis Evan's mother , and Susan Sematov Raz's mother. Chris is not his real name though and his whole life story is a fake. There are so many twists and turns I don't know how I can do this novel justice whilst keeping them a secret. Lisa has served as President of Mystery Writers of America. This story contains three steps.
Chris Brennan is a big fat liar. Mindy Kostis is the wife of a busy surgeon and the queen bee of the baseball boosters, where her super-popular son Evan is the star catcher. How far will he go to get it? There is also a bit of a romance, but I didn't like the chemistry between these characters and it seemed to be too quick in some ways. A surgeon's wife who seems to spend a lot of time socializing and is finding more solace in her gin and tonics than anything else. Lies and deception are the basis of this story involving Chris Brennan, a high school teacher and baseball coach, who has everyone fooled. Then there is Mike Raz Sematov. The jacket blurb immediately had me curious; I love a good thriller with multiple storylines that tie together in the conclusion.
I know that it is going to seem like I am being secretive about the plot, but the less you know about it, the more the story is going to screw with your head. This was an exciting, action packed story with intriguing characters, and an enjoyable and original plot. I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway, thank you! There are so many twists and turns I don't know how I can do this novel justice whilst keeping them a secret. Who among them will survive the lethal jeopardy threatening them, from the shadows? Single mother Heather would do anything for her son, Jordan. Yet with their continued pleas, the government took no pity or action to rectify matters. The lives of these families revolve around the baseball team — and Chris Brennan. The story then focuses on Chris, three of his students and their three mothers.
Chris has already researched the coach and team for his own purposes. His scheming also causes a rift between Justin and Raz. He passed the criminal background checks and filled out all appropriate forms. There are certain people he needs to befriend. But everything about Chris Brennan is a lie. Then we have Mindy Kostis.
But he is wearing his high school athletic tee shirt, so naturally he had to be a baseball player because evidently, football, basketball and soccer players didn't wear school shirts. Unbeknown to the three boys, Coach Brennan had an agenda and they were included in it. I enjoyed the hint of romance, but was disappointed that the fates of the other key characters were left hanging in the balance. There is mystery and action as well as family drama. Most of her books get 5 stars from me but not this one. It was suspected that the terrorists would be using ammonium nitrate fertilizer for the bomb. Their life is a beautiful and perfect but just from afar.
